Culinary Influences & Heritage

Linda’s love of cooking stems from her multicultural family background. Her Vietnamese mother is an intuitive cook who makes incredible phở and bánh xèo, teaching Linda to feel comfortable and confident in the kitchen. Her French father introduced her to the art of crêpe-making, béchamel sauce, homemade French mayonnaise, and the art of the French dinner party from a young age.

However, it was working in fine dining that truly ignited Linda’s culinary passion. As part of her restaurant role, she tasted seasonal menu changes and attended educational sessions on wine, spirits, and cheese – experiences that deepened her understanding of flavor, technique, and the art of hospitality.

The Sip + Sanity Story

After years as a stay-at-home mom, Linda’s husband encouraged her in pursuing her constant passion: thinking about food and sharing that enthusiasm with others. She launched Sip + Sanity in June 2020, naming it after three simple truths: she loves sipping wine while cooking, creativity keeps her sane, and she’s a complete sucker for alliteration.

The blog’s core mission reflects Linda’s personal philosophy: celebrate every. little. thing. with something delicious! This approach stems from years of home entertaining and her belief that gathering people around the table is ultimately about connection and showing love through the meals we create.

Personal Life

Linda lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, teenage son (and sometimes intern), and their beloved pets—Effie the boss cat and Sooshi the nutty mutt (who demands appetizers before dinner). When she’s not in the kitchen, you’ll find her curled up with a good mystery novel, binge-watching British crime drama, or indulging in her weaknesses: loaded nachos with extra jalapeños and perfectly spicy fried chicken.
