This enchanting blackberry cocktail with magical pearl dust captures the mystery of Coraline's Other World – perfect for Halloween parties or any time you need a little magic in your glass.
In a medium saucepan, combine blackberries, sugar, water and lemon juice. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally and crushing the berries with a spoon. Remove from heat, and let cool slightly. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Allow to cool completely before using (can be made 1-2 days ahead and refrigerated).
Pour a thin layer of rimming sugar onto a small plate. Moisten the rims of your glasses with a lemon wedge. Dip each glass rim into the sugar to create a sparkling edge.
Add vodka, blackberry syrup, blue curaçao, grenadine, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds until well-chilled
Fill each sugar-rimmed glass with fresh ice cubes. Strain the cocktail mixture into each glass. Stir in a generous pinch of edible pearl dust. Stir gently until it is evenly distributed.
Thread 2-3 blackberries onto a small skewer. Rest the skewer across the top of each glass.
