Ingredients

For the Blackberry Syrup:

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice

For a Single Cocktail (batch directions in Notes below:

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz blackberry syrup
  • ½ oz blue curaçao
  • ½ oz grenadine
  • ½ oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • edible pearl dust
  • ice cubes

For Garnish:

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, combine blackberries, sugar, water and lemon juice. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally and crushing the berries with a spoon. Remove from heat, and let cool slightly. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Allow to cool completely before using (can be made 1-2 days ahead and refrigerated).
  • Pour a thin layer of rimming sugar onto a small plate. Moisten the rims of your glasses with a lemon wedge. Dip each glass rim into the sugar to create a sparkling edge.
  • Add vodka, blackberry syrup, blue curaçao, grenadine, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds until well-chilled
  • Fill each sugar-rimmed glass with fresh ice cubes. Strain the cocktail mixture into each glass. Stir in a generous pinch of edible pearl dust. Stir gently until it is evenly distributed.
  • Thread 2-3 blackberries onto a small skewer. Rest the skewer across the top of each glass.

Notes

  • For a Batch of Four Cocktails: In a pitcher, stir together vodka, blackberry syrup, blue curaçao, grenadine, and lemon juice. Chill until ready to serve. Pour 4-1/2 ounces of the cocktail mix into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds until well-chilled. Proceed with directions above.
  • Storage + Make Ahead Instructions: Store your blackberry syrup in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in a sealed container. The cocktail mixture (minus the ice and pearl dust) can be prepared up to 2 hours ahead.
  • Nutrition: This is only an estimate for one cocktail and does not include rimming sugar or blackberry garnish.
