Green Tea Yuzu Sour Mocktail — sweet, tart, with floral and herbal notes. It’s refreshing, delicious and just right when you want an alcohol-free cocktail!
1ounceyuzu simple syrup, ingredients below, see notes for instructions
½ouncefresh lemon juice
½ounceegg white, optional (see notes)
bitters, Peychaud's or 0% bitters (see notes)
Optional Garnishes
cherries
lemon slices
mint sprigs
Yuzu Simple Syrup (makes enough for 2+ drinks)
¼cupyuzu juice
¼cupgranulated sugar
Instructions
To make the yuzu simple syrup:
Combine the ingredients in a small measuring cup or heat-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue microwaving in 15 second increments until the sugar is dissolved. Cool completely before using.
To mix the mocktail:
Fill a rocks glass with ice cubes and add the ginger beer.
Measure the green tea, yuzu simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, and egg white (if using) into a cocktail shaker. Add 2 to 3 dashes of bitters.
Tightly close the shaker and shake for 30 seconds. Carefully uncap, add a couple ice cubes and shake again. Strain into the rocks glass.
Garnish with cherries, lemon and mint.
Notes
Consuming raw and lightly cooked eggs poses a risk of food-borne illness.
Using traditional bitters will add trace amounts of alcohol to this drink. For a completely alcohol-free experience, use a 0% bitters. These are widely available online and in speciality shops.
